Market Compliance Online is a joint e-training initiative launched by African Milling School subsidiary of - Bühler AG and eProd Solutions. The program aims to enhance supply chain management practices and the application of food processing technology that assist access to the global markets, and specifically the European Union, generating sustainable income opportunities through the value chains and ultimately improving the human rights and the environment. More specifically, the training program assists the participants with the implementation of corporate due diligence on human rights and the environment (HREDD) in global agricultural supply chains. Considering recent supply chain legislation, such as the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG), the EU Directive on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence (CSDDD) and the EU Regulation on Deforestation-free Products (EUDR).
Building on the successful Africa Grains Online program that was created during the COVID 19 pandemic to provide online support for the growth and development of Sub-Saharan Africa’s milling and grain trading industries. During the pandemic, the need for remote training in grain milling technology and supply chain management became prudent, especially as the crisis disrupted traditional learning and in-person training. Africa Grains Online was introduced to bridge this gap, providing accessible, online training to professionals across Africa during the pandemic and beyond. The program was created in partnership with DEG (Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft) , a member of the KfW Bankengruppe , and has since expanded its reach with support from various industry leaders.
Since 2022, over 700 professionals have successfully graduated from six Anglophone cohorts and one Francophone cohort, creating a vibrant, diverse community of millers, traders, and food processors across Africa. The program has expanded its reach and effectiveness, ensuring that participants from different regions can benefit from quality, remote training.
"The MCO training came at the right time as I finalize my efforts to comply with EUDR requirements. At Outspan Agric Exports Limited, our cocoa is organically and sustainably produced, but we still need a traceability system that meets EU standards. Digital tools like eProd would be valuable in closing this gap. I believe that within five months, we can align fully with EUDR. Going forward, I recommend more practical sessions and look forward to discussing how eProd can support due diligence and reporting through platforms like ITC and TRACES. "
